Sports Medicine is a sub-specialty of Family Medicine which addresses the healthcare needs of individuals participating in recreational or competitive activities. My role as a Primary Care Sports Medicine physician is to evaluate medical and musculoskeletal issues and help guide the treatment of the patient. This also includes determining if the issue warrants a surgical evaluation by an orthopaedic surgeon or if it can be managed non-operatively.

Because of my Fellowship training in Sports Medicine, I have received additional training in the areas of splinting/casting, sideline sports event management, joint injections, and orthopaedic evaluations. During the Fellowship, I have served as the Medical Director for various events in San Diego, volunteered for physician coverage in both local and international sports events, and served as a Team Physician for multiple schools and organizations. I currently serve as a Team Physician primarily for Cal State University San Marcos, but also assist with Team Physician duties for SDSU.

My additional training in Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment is also something that can be of benefit in those that have musculoskeletal issues.
